An annual international event, Steve Irwin Day is celebrated on the 15th of November in honor of “the life and legacy of the one and only Crocodile Hunter,” per the Australia Zoo website. The nearly two-minute clip uploaded to Instagram showcased rarely-seen footage of the famed TV personality in his natural element—exploring the great outdoors—while featuring various animals throughout and discussing what wildlife conservation meant to him. “Conservation is my whole life, my whole persona; what I want to be remembered for,” Steve said in the throwback snippet. Several fans and followers of the family penned heartfelt comments under the post remembering the Australian icon. “Legends live on forever through the lives they have inspired and the positive changes made,” actress Emmy Perry wrote. One user said Steve would be proud “if he knew the impact he made” on the world, while another offered, “I miss watching your dad on TV so much. He had this thing that drew you to him.
