“Sharna is an amazing dance teacher,” Brian told reporters on a Zoom call after the show. “She’s been doing this her whole life. I know nothing about it, so I made a choice early on that when we go in and rehearse that I need to put whatever ego could possibly come up aside and just listen and learn.” The funny part of the story is that Brian was originally supposed to be on DWTS last season, partnered with Sharna, but it didn’t work out. And Sharna told Parade.com that it was a good thing because, “I don’t ever get romantically involved with my partners. For me, that is business; it’s work.” The two were eventually introduced through a mutual business manager and they have been dating ever since. “We used to joke when we first started dating that this wasn’t ever even a possibility remotely for us, and then when they called and asked about the show this season and they said that we would be partnered together, it seemed like it worked,” Brian said. “It is the perfect storm. Everything aligned. It just felt like such a cool opportunity.” And Sharna added, “We know that we need to have balance in our relationship and that we have to keep dancing at the studio and home is home. We want to make sure that we do keep that separate because our relationship is also very important to us, so we don’t want to mix everything and have it become stressful.” The 90210 star jokes, but is also serious, that the fact that he is father to four children—one with ex Vanessa Marcil and three kids with ex Megan Fox—is what keeps them from practicing at home. Between feeding the kids, the dogs, the rabbits, the fish and the chickens, and packing school lunches, they are busy. “We schedule our rehearsal time,” Brian said. “We rehearse and then when we get home, it’s like, ‘OK, now we’re home.’ Every once in a while, we might watch a tape of a rehearsal just to review things that we can possibly work on the next time we’re in, but we don’t dance at home.” As previously mentioned, this is a new experience for Sharna, so there is a learning curve involved, so the two make it a point to discuss what they need as a couple in life, what they need as dance partners, and through it all they just try to stay present. “I’ve never dated anyone that I’ve danced with, whether it was in my competition life or my Dancing with the Stars life,” Sharna said. “So, everything for me is new, learning that balance and every day how to approach it, and I think that’s the biggest challenge. It doesn’t mean it’s bad. We haven’t had a bad moment for us because our communication is so great in our relationship. So, anything that arises, we discuss it.” Dancing with the Stars airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Next, It’s Premiere Night! Who Went Home on Dancing With the Stars Tonight?
