The musician’s agent confirmed his death, as reported by the New York Times. He died around 5 p.m. at a friend’s house. The cause has not been confirmed. Celebrities, friends and fans quickly sent the Grammy-winner’s name trending on Twitter, mourning the artist and celebrating his work and life. Weird Al Yankovic shared a photo of the two rappers hugging, captioning it with a simple “RIP Coolio”—which many fans took note of due to their past conflict. Snoop Dogg posted a photo of the two of them together as well, captioning it “Gangstas paradise. R. I. P. 🙏🏽🌹 🕊 ♿️🚾. @coolio” Ice Cube was, of course, saddened by the news. “I witness first hand this man’s grind to the top of the industry. Rest In Peace @Coolio,” he wrote. Tina Malone, who got into a screaming match with the rapper on Big Brother, wrote that she was glad they had the chance to make up after the fact. The New Orleans Saints warmed up to “Gangsta’s Paradise” this morning. And the tributes continued to pour in.
