In a post the Canadian supermodel shared to social media on Saturday, the top supermodel of the ’90s can be seen posing for the Italian fashion brand, Fendi. The recent collaboration between the two fashion icons celebrates the 25th anniversary of the timeless Fendi Baguette. “On September 9 2022 @Fendi will host a special fashion show in New York City to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the #FendiBaguette, designed by @silviaventurinifendi, and two years since @mrkimjones joined the Maison as Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear. #Fendi,” she captioned the post. Evangelista also expressed extreme gratitude to those who helped make this campaign happen—one which marks the first project the model has taken on since opening up about her cosmetic surgery nightmare last year, according to People. In September of 2021, the supermodel released a statement (also posted to Instagram) that explained why she had become a ‘recluse’ and retired from modeling for five years. In the post, Evangelista exposed her battle with the side effects of a popular cosmetic procedure called CoolSculpting that she said left her “brutally disfigured.” She also announced that she would be filing a lawsuit against the parent company of CoolSculpting. “To my followers who have wondered why I have not been working while my peers’ careers have been thriving, the reason is that I was brutally disfigured,” she said in part. “Even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries, I have been left, as the media has described, ‘unrecognizable’.,” the model wrote. “I have developed Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), a risk I was not made aware of before I had the procedures. PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing. In the process, I’ve become a recluse. With this lawsuit, I am moving forward to rid myself of my shame.” According to a People report, Evangelista filed a lawsuit last September against CoolSculpting’s parent company, Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc., for $50 million in damages. She alleged that she was unable to work since undergoing seven sessions of the procedure in a dermatologist’s office from August 2015 to February 2016. The outcome of her case is still pending. A representative for CoolSculpting said that the procedure “has been well studied with more than 100 scientific publications and more than 11 million treatments performed worldwide,” in a statement to the outlet. It added that rare side effects like PAH “continue to be well-documented in the CoolSculpting information for patients and health care providers.” While the model admittedly may not have felt like her best self these last few years, this recent Fendi campaign has proved one thing: she’s as stunning and talented as ever!
