And now, 18 years later, Lindsay Lohan, who famously portrayed Cady in the film, is reviving the song in her upcoming Netflix rom-com, Falling for Christmas. The streaming giant released the trailer for the film on Friday, Oct. 7, which was accompanied by the actress’s rendition of the iconic tune. “Happy holidays, everyone. Christmas has come early this year, and I come bearing gifts,” the 36-year-old said in the intro of the trailer. Lohan also shared the trailer on her Instagram page, specifically calling out the Mean Girls nod in the caption, writing, “Does the song sound familiar?” Her Mean Girls co-star, Jonathan Bennett, who played love interest Aaron Samuels, commented: “Welcome to the Christmas movie family! It looks so so so good! I can not wait to see it!” Fans were also here for Lohan’s comeback: The film follows Lohan as a newly engaged heiress who falls off a mountain while skiing and suffers amnesia. A handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (played by Glee’s Chord Overstreet) and his adorable daughter take her in while she recovers ahead of the Christmas holiday. Falling for Christmas hits Netflix on November 10. The streamer also announced that Lohan will star in Irish Wish, where she will play the role of Maddie, a bridesmaid attending a wedding in Ireland to watch her best friend marry the love of her life.
