Under the heading ‘We Stand With the People of Ukraine’ on the couple’s Archewell website, a statement read, “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.” Thousands of people are currently trying to flee Kyiv as Russian forces approach Ukraine’s capital city. Harry and Meghan are set to attend the 53rd NAACP Image Awards this Saturday, at which they will receive the President’s Award for their social justice work. In a statement, NAACP President Derrick Johnson said the organization is “thrilled” to present the award to the Sussexes, who have “heeded the call to social justice and have joined the struggle for equity both in the U.S. and around the world.” In response, the duke and duchess said, “It’s a true honor to be recognized by President Derrick Johnson and the NAACP, whose efforts to propel racial justice and civil rights are as vital today as they were nearly 115 years ago.” The last time we saw Harry and Meghan make a public appearance together was their visit to New York in November.
