Clarence House, the Prince of Wales’ private office, dismissed the anecdote as “fiction.” The claim appears in a new book by Christopher Andersen, a former editor of People magazine, who alleges that Charles speculated on the “complexion” of his future grandchildren on the same day in November 2017 when Harry and Meghan announced their engagement. According to Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, Charles said to his wife Duchess Camilla, “I wonder what the children will look like?” Camilla’s response was, “Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain,” to which Charles allegedly said, “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?” A spokesperson for Charles says, “This is fiction and not worth further comment.” In March this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave an incendiary interview to Oprah Winfrey in which they claimed that when Meghan was pregnant with Archie a member of the royal family raised concerns about the potential darkness of their baby’s skin color. Three days later Harry’s brother Prince William’s only response to the interview was to call over his shoulder to a member of the press, “We’re very much not a racist family.” Next up, Wavy Side-Swept Hair, a Glossy Pink Lip and a Shimmering Sequined Dress—Duchess Kate Wowed at the Royal Variety Show!
