The show was the beginning of her huge career, about the time when she started gaining fans and fame. The actress and singer posted a new photo of herself on Waverly Place in New York City with the caption “Where it all began.” While the show was filmed on a sound stage in Hollywood, the Russo family at the center of the story lives in Greenwich Village, where Alex gets into a ton of trouble with magic. Wizards of Waverly Place also starred David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, and David DeLuise. Visiting the actual setting of her show in NYC, Gomez took the picture on the corner of Waverly Place and West 10th Street, and the city’s oldest gay bar, Julius’, stands behind her. The bar’s website also states that it’s Greenwich Village’s oldest bar. Many fans loved the throwback to days past, with one fan writing, “i wasn’t ready for this,” while another said, “Alex russo miss u❤️.” Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank commented, “Yer a wizard, Selena! ❤️.” The post currently has over 4.8 million likes. Other people in the comments took the opportunity to ask Gomez to return as Russo in some capacity. While it’s unclear if that will ever happen, the cast is still close and occasionally have their own mini-reunions. Earlier this year, Gomez and Stone, who played Russo’s best friend Harper, reunited and filmed a TikTok of themselves dancing to their characters’ iconic “Crazy Funky Junky Hat” song. Just like with Gomez’s new Instagram photo, fans were ecstatic to see the nostalgic callback to Wizards of Waverly Place, with one person summing it up well by saying, “Unexpected? Yes. Made my whole day? Also yes. ❤.” More Pop Culture:
