Our calendars do not follow international standards (ISO 8601), which start the week with Monday and end it on Sunday. (I myself find the Sunday start so counterintuitive that I always choose the Monday-start option on my digital calendars.) Our country’s practice dates back to the Romans, who named the days starting with the sun (Sunday) and the moon (Monday).
