For many, the comeback of the Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) marks the unofficial return of fall, with brisk weather lovers everywhere lining up for the warm beverage on the first day it becomes available again. This year, Starbucks announced that Aug. 30 is the long-awaited return date for the cult favorite drink. On Aug. 29, the coffee chain announced its fall menu lineup and it doesn’t disappoint. From pumpkin and apple-flavored concoctions to newly-introduced sweet treats, every Starbucks lover is sure to find something they’ll enjoy for the upcoming seasonal change. For its 19th year, the PSL—a handcrafted beverage combining Starbucks Signature Espresso and steamed milk with flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove to complement the real pumpkin in the sauce and topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices—returns in hot, iced or blended options at U.S. stores while supplies last. In addition, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew made with vanilla syrup, pumpkin cream cold foam, and a dusting of pumpkin spice, can be purchased for a limited time. A fairly newcomer to the bunch, the Apple Crisp Macchiato returns, with a twist, for its second year on the menu. Inspired by the flavors of warm and gooey apple crisp paired with a cup of coffee, the harvest-flavored sip combines layers of apple, cinnamon, and brown sugar with a spiced apple drizzle, and is now made with creamy oat milk and Starbucks Blonde Espresso as the standard recipe. “Crafting the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato with Starbucks® Blonde Espresso gives the beverage a soft and smooth foundation that ties all the flavors together,” Harvey Rojas Mora, Starbucks beverage developer, said. “The oatmilk adds a creaminess and brings forward the oat flavors of a traditional apple crisp topping.” As for bakery items, the aromas of cozy fall flavors are filling up the coffeehouses with tasty bites for customers’ enjoyment. Pumpkin flavored options include the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and Pumpkin Scone, both available for a limited time, as well as the customer-favorite Pumpkin Loaf, which is available year-round. The new addition Owl Cake Pop—which combines vanilla cake and buttercream frosting, dipped in purple chocolaty icing and finished with an owl design—is sure to please adults and little ones alike. Aside from the in-store menu, the coffee chain also introduced a new selection of colorful drinkware and fresh designs on its whole bean packages. For those who prefer to brew at home, the brand’s new and returning line of flavored coffees and creamers can be purchased where groceries are sold.
