“I know all of you guys are wanting to know every detail that is going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we’re not allowed to talk about it at the present time,” Todd said on the most recent episode of the couple’s Chrisley Confessions podcast, released Friday, June 17, 2022. “There will come a time.” “We did want to come on today and let everyone know that it’s a very sad, heartbreaking time for our family right now but we still hold steadfast in our faith and we trust that God will do what he does best because God’s a miracle worker,” he continued. Julie quipped, “We’re alive and kicking and we appreciate all the support we have received from everyone.” Todd thanked fans and supporters for their messages, mail and food deliveries, telling listeners to not drive long distances to deliver gifts, even though the family appreciates them. “It’s a tough time right now,” he said. “A lot of tears, a lot of heartache, a lot of sorrow, a lot of trying to understand how this is where we are right now, but we are here.” On June 7, 2022, a federal jury found Todd and Julie Chrisley guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans between 2007 and 2012, as well as conspiring to defraud the IRS and tax evasion. Additionally, Julie was convicted on separate charges of wire fraud and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors alleged that the Chrisley patriarch and matriarch submitted falsified documents when applying for loans and hid their income to avoid paying taxes—then later filed for bankruptcy to avoid having to pay $20 million in debt. The Chrisleys’ attorney previously said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Both Chrisleys are devastated and disappointed with the verdict and will be pursuing an appeal. Julie and Todd are so grateful for the love and support shown by their family, friends and fans. They both remain strong in their faith and will continue the ‘fight’ until they are vindicated. They have their priorities in order and are currently concentrating on the welfare of their children and Todd’s mother, Elizabeth Faye Chrisley.” Todd and Julie are currently out on bond with their sentencing scheduled for October, each facing up to 30 years behind bars for their offenses. Addressing that particular elephant in the room, Todd told his listeners, “We’re going to continue Chrisley Confessions for as long as we get to do it, and then Chase and Savannah will take it over and at that point they will be the ones that can fill you in on everything that’s going on in our lives at that point.” As for the TV show, Chrisley Knows Best Season 9, which was recorded prior to the trial, is still slated to return June 23, 2022, on USA.
